Ders kapsamında; öğrencilere, şehirsel ölçek ve şehir planlama süreçleri ile mimari ölçek ve mimarlık ilişkilerinin ve şehir planlama ile ilgili yasal mevzuatın tanıtılması amaçlanmaktadır. Öğrenciler, tarihi çevreden ve diğer şehirsel alanlardan seçilen örnek alanlar üzerinde; şehirsel mekân öğeleri ve şehirsel doku analizi, problem tanımlama, öncelikleri belirleme, senteze ulaşma, seçenekli düşünme ve tasarım önerileri geliştirme becerilerini kazanabilecekleri, analiz aşamasını grup halinde yürüttükleri, çözüm önerilerini ise bireysel olarak geliştirdikleri bir uygulama çalışması yaparlar.
The purpose of the course is to present the relation between architectural scale, urban scale and urban planning processes, and to introduce the students with the legal regulations related to urban planning. The assignment of the course will be focused on selected sample sites from historic areas or other urban settings. The assignment aims to convey the necessary skills in order to analyze the elements of urban space and urban pattern, to define the problem(s), to identify priorities, to reach a synthesis, to consider multiple alternatives, and to develop design proposals. On the analysis phase, students work as groups. After this phase, the proposals are developed individually by the students.
