About the Architecture Department
Architecture, an interdisciplinary profession with roots stretching back ten thousand years and combining art, technology, and science, has become a significant indicator of global communication networks in the contemporary world. One of the most striking aspects of architecture is that it influences not only its users but also all societies. In this respect, it is a universal discipline that concerns both individuals and society with its cultural heritage and historical continuity.
The Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture at FMV Işık University was established by University Senate Decision No. 138 dated December 27, 2011. The Department of Architecture within the faculty began accepting students in the 2012-2013 academic year and graduated its first graduates in the 2016-2017 academic year. The undergraduate architecture program, taught in English, lasts four years (eight semesters) and has a total of 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits.
The department's curriculum is designed in line with international architecture programs in line with the Bologna Process Criteria. The FMV Işık University Architecture Program, with its interdisciplinary structure, is enriched by the contributions of faculty members from diverse fields, including civil engineering, interior architecture, and humanities and social sciences. This structure contributes to the creation of a unique and high-quality educational environment.
The Department of Architecture offers its students a strong foundation and the opportunity to take advantage of national and international exchange programs such as Erasmus, as well as minor and double-major opportunities.
