- When and how can I apply for accommodation?
Announcements regarding the applications are published by the Dormitory Administration via e-mail and on the Işık University website. Dormitory applications can be completed online at http://yurtkayit.isikun.edu.tr/.
- Who can apply for dormitories?
Students enrolled at Işık University can apply for dormitories.
- Can I choose a friend when applying for a dormitory?
If you specify the student number of the friend you want to stay with during your application, your request can be met based on our facilities and housing priorities. The same request must be made by the friend you want to stay with, and your preference ranking must be the same.
- How can I find out my application result?
Dormitory application results are notified to students via e-mail and SMS.
- When and how can I settle in the dorm and when can I leave?
The dates determined by the Dormitory Administration for moving are e-mailed to our students and published on the dormitory application page. Students are required to submit the requested documents, dormitory and deposit payment receipts in full on the dates set for settlement. In the event of missing documents, you are not allowed to settle. The last check-out date from the dormitories is stated in the announcements sent at the end of each semester.
- What should I do to change my room?
You can submit your room change request to the Administration within the first month following the start of the semester, once per semester. We will try to meet your room change requests within the possibilities.
- How can I check out of the dormitory?
After you vacate your room, you must come to the Administrative Office to sign the necessary exit documents and hand in your room key.
- What happens if I leave the dormitory without checking out?
After the necessary warning is given, personal belongings found in the room are considered as waste and the key fee is transferred to the relevant account.
- What should I do if I lose my room key?
Immediately go to the relevant dormitory office to inform them and pay the fee determined by the administration.
- How can I pay the dormitory fees?
You can deposit your dormitory fee on the date and bank account notified to you, or you can pay online by credit card. Students who want to pay in installments can pay the dormitory fee determined in the table of dormitory fees with contracted bank credit cards.
- What are the services included in dormitory fees?
Dormitory fees include the use of a shared kitchen, use of washing and drying machines, heating, internet, hot/cold water, cleaning, and technical services.
- What are the sanctions for the students who have not paid their dormitory fees? What happens if payment is not made on time?
Students who do not pay the dormitory fees for each academic year by the deadline will be dismissed from the dormitories. Students who come to the dormitories for settlement must bring the required documents with them and have made the payment. Students who do not pay their dormitory fees by the deadline will be dismissed from the dormitories by the relevant Dormitories Administration and their dormitory rights will be transferred to students waiting in reserve.
- Can I keep animals in the dormitory?
Keeping animals is not allowed in the dormitories.
- Which items should I bring with me to the dormitory?
You only need to bring your personal belongings (bed linen, shampoo, soap, towels, slippers, toilet paper, detergent, etc.) to the dormitories.
- What happens if I leave/forget things in the common areas?
Since the common areas are open 24/7 for the use of our students staying in the dormitories, the responsibility of the items left/forgotten in these areas belongs to our students.
- Can I hang banners, posters, announcements, pictures, etc. in my room or on the boards in the dormitories?
It is not allowed to hang announcements and/or posters anywhere in the dormitories.
- Can my parents or siblings or friends stay in my room?
No one, including family members, is allowed to stay in the rooms of our students except themselves. However, if our students' 1st degree relatives (parents, siblings) request accommodation, they can stay in our Guest House for a certain fee according to the availability on the dates they request accommodation.
- Does being suspended from school or suspending my enrollment affect my rights in the dormitory?
Students who have been suspended from school or have suspended their enrollment cannot reside in the dormitories.
- Can I get help to carry my belongings?
We do not have any staff who can help you with the transportation of your belongings during the check in and check out of the dormitory. Each student is responsible for the transportation of his/her own belongings.
- What can I do if I encounter a problem in my room?
You can report any malfunctions in your room to the relevant departments by logging in with your student e-mail and password on the http://hys.isikun.edu.tr/ page.
- Can I listen to music, watch TV, or play computer games in my room?
You can listen to music, watch TV, or play computer games in the rooms without disturbing others.
- Is it necessary for students who will not check out of the dormitory at the end of the fall semester to apply for a dormitory for the spring semester?
Students who stay in the dormitory in the fall semester do not need to apply for dormitory for the spring semester.
- Can I get my deposit back when I leave the dormitory?
After the dormitory room is delivered and a damage assessment is made, the form is filled out and signed. The form must be submitted to the relevant dormitory office.
- Can I stay in the dormitories during the summer semester?
For the summer semester, summer school students, students who will do internships and students who will participate in some special studies within the university can stay in our dormitories. Faculty approval is required for students staying for internships and special studies. Application dates and procedures for summer semester accommodation are announced to students via e-mail.
- What are the sanctions for not following the dormitory rules?
Students who do not comply with the rules specified in the Dormitory Directive are subject to warnings and punishments by the Dormitory Director and the Dormitory Disciplinary Board. If the student continues to violate the rules despite these warnings and punishments, the student may be removed from the dormitories and may not be placed in the dormitories again.
