Minor Programs

What are Minor Programs?

A Minor Program is an academic opportunity that allows university students, provided they meet certain requirements, to gain knowledge in a specific field by taking a limited number of courses from a program other than their undergraduate degree. The minor certificate awarded at the end of the program documents the student's competence in the relevant field; however, this certificate does not replace a second diploma.

Minor Program Application Requirements for Architecture Students

Architecture Department students who wish to pursue a minor in another department are evaluated by the relevant department's board of directors. Students may apply for a minor program at the earliest in the third semester of their undergraduate architecture program, and at the latest in the sixth semester.

The following conditions are required for application:

  • Successful completion of all credit courses taken until the application period,
  • A minimum general grade point average of 2.50.

Minor Program Completion Requirements for Architecture Students

Students accepted into the minor program are required to take and successfully complete courses designated by the Senate. These courses are determined by mutual agreement between the architecture department and the minor department and are finalized after being submitted to the relevant faculty boards and the Senate for approval.

Accepted architecture students must take at least 30 ECTS credits of courses from the minor program they are applying for. Upon successful completion of these courses, the student is eligible to receive a minor certificate.

To continue in a minor program, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.29 in their major program. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be dismissed from the minor program. Successfully completed minor courses not counted toward the major program will be recorded on the transcript and diploma supplement without being included in the GPA.

Students who qualify to graduate from their major program but cannot complete their minor program may be granted an additional period of up to two semesters by decision of the relevant board of directors.
