Another Success for Işık University

On Sunday 25 August, at the Gulf of Izmıt Racing Grounds for the Alternative Energy Vehicle Races, in the 2013 TÜBİTAK Formula G Solar Vehicle Finals Işık University's Apollon Solar Car Team placed 4th among all Turkish universities, and took 1st for all foundation universities.

On Saturday, 24 August 2013, competing in the Tübitak Formula G Solar Vehicle semi-finals, Işık University's Apollon Solar Car Team won the right to advance to the finals as they finished in the top-34 cars in the race in a field of 39. On Sunday, 25 August, following the 12:30 ceremonial procession, the Apollon Solar Car Team under the leadership of Işık University Faculty of Engineering, Electric-Electronic Department faculty member, Assistant Professor Dr. Hakan Gürkan, once again turned in a spectacular performance at the Gulf of Izmıt Racing Grounds.

Tübitak has organized the Formula G Solar Vehicle races every since 2005. The Işık University team has joined the competition each year since 2010, twice placing 4th among all Turkish universities, and twice having taken 1st place among all competing foundation universities.

At the race grounds to congratulate the students and celebrate the victory for Işık University were Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Sıddık Yarman, Işık University Rector, Prof. Dr. Nafiye Güneç Kıyak, and Board of Trustees members Mümtaz Tahincioğlu and Cem Yurtbay.
