WE WILL BUILD THE FUTURE WITH THE LIGHT OF SCIENCE
Statement from our Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture:
We are deeply saddened by the destructive earthquakes that occurred in 11 of our cities, especially Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep, in the Southeastern Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia and Mediterranean regions on February 6, 2023, with a radius of 5 km and the ones that occurred in Northern Syria. We offer our condolences to our country and wish urgent health to all our injured. We sincerely support and thank all institutions, organizations, and individual contributions that immediately organized and worked tirelessly to provide aid to the region after the earthquake.
We advocate the need to implement necessary regulations regarding professional responsibility and ethics for nature-friendly and healthy built environments with the consciousness of our responsibility as the disciplines of design and architecture to protect life, which is the most important issue concerning the built environment, in the face of these repeated great pains.
To prevent natural disasters from turning into tragedies and to prevent these pains from recurring, we will continue to make all necessary efforts, as we have done so far, to train responsible professionals who can understand the determinants of health, welfare, and safety and the role of design ethics in shaping people's life safety and quality, by emphasizing the significance of practical education.
