Dr. Şehrigül Yeşil's Project Accepted by YÖK Research Universities Support Program

The project titled "Investigation of Reburial Systems in the Preservation of Monitoring Station and Mosaic Pavements at the Ancient City of Perge" in which Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Architectural Restoration Program faculty member Dr. Şehrigül Yeşil participated as a researcher has been deemed worthy of support within the scope of YÖK Research Universities Support Program.

Dr. Şehrigül Yeşil, who drew attention to the limited number of studies on the preservation of artifacts in the buried environment, despite the fact that burying architectural archaeological remains for protection has been the most commonly used method since scientific research began in the area, emphasized that with their project, they will be able to compare the advantages and disadvantages of different mosaic reburying systems according to the environmental conditions of the ancient city of Perge and provide some suggestions that can contribute to practical development in the field.

Yeşil also highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of the project, which is being carried out under the coordination of the Scientific Research Fund unit of Istanbul University and led by Prof. Dr. Şebnem Sedef Çokay Kepçe, the head of the Archaeology Department at Istanbul University, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Suat Özkorucuklu and Dr. Şehrigül Yeşil, faculty members of the Physics Department at Istanbul University, as researchers. She stated that the project also has the potential to serve as a methodological reference for new research.
