The 101st Anniversary of our National Anthem Celebrated

Işık University celebrated the 101st anniversary of the acceptance of our national anthem with an online conference titled 'National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy'. The conference was moderated by Işık University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Kahraman and featured literary historian Prof. Dr. Abdullah Uçman as a guest speaker. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Uçman explained the process of Mehmet Akif Ersoy's participation in the National Struggle and the writing of the national anthem, stating that "the years in which the national anthem was written were the most critical times of the War of Independence. Therefore, the national anthem reflects the people's desire for freedom, love of independence, and the excitement of that time." Işık University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Kahraman also released a written message to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the acceptance of the national anthem, stating "I respectfully commemorate our Parliament that accepted the national anthem, the brave pioneers and heroes of the War of Independence, especially our Commander-in-Chief and the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the national anthem, which gave strength to the great and heroic struggle for national independence and has been reminding us of the idea of independence and guiding us since then."
