Course Descriptions

İki dönemden oluşan Modern Türkiye Tarihi dersi, bugünün Türkiye’sinin oluşumunda rol oynayan siyasal, ekonomik, toplumsal ve kültürel süreçlere ışık tutmayı amaçlamaktadır. Dersin ikinci döneminde, öncelikle Millî Mücadele, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne geçiş süreci ve bu sürece eşlik eden inkılaplar kapsamlı bir şekilde tartışılmaktadır. Daha sonra inkılapların yarattığı toplumsal, ekonomik ve siyasal sonuçlar, Cumhuriyet’in kurumsallaşması ve çok partili sistemin temel dinamikleri ele alınmaktadır. Bir yandan demokrasinin gelişimi diğer yandan da demokratikleşme sürecini sekteye uğratan ekonomik çalkantılar, siyasal istikrarsızlıklar ve askeri müdahaleler incelenmektedir. Cumhuriyet tarihinde ortaya çıkan göç ve kentleşme olguları, toplumsal hareketler ve kültürel değişim bu dönem tartışılan önemli konular arasında yer almaktadır.

Osmanlı döneminden başlayarak Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluşuna kadar olan süreçte modernleşme hareketleri. Edebiyatımıza yansıması. Seçilmiş düşünce metinleri ve kurmaca metinler ile incelenmesi.

Oryantasyon dersi öğrencilere üniversite hayatına uyum sürecinde ihtiyaç duyacakları akademik ve sosyal yetkinlikleri kazandırmayı hedeflemektedir. Dersi tamamlayan öğrencilerin iletişim, sosyal, profesyonel ve etik sorumluluklar gibi ilerleyen dönemlerde ve profesyonel hayatta faydalı olacak kazanımları edinmelerinin yanında, 21. Yüzyıl yetkinlikleri olarak tanımlanan yetkinlikler hakkında farkındalık kazanmaları amaçlanmaktadır. Ders, birinci sınıf bahar döneminde okutulması planlanan Kariyer Planlama dersi için giriş dersi niteliği de taşımaktadır.

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the nature and historical development of science, to develop their ability to distinguish science from pseudoscience, and to build foundational scientific literacy in areas such as physics, the universe, climate change, waves, energy, cell biology, evolution, basic chemistry, and the role of water in life.

The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the history of mathematics, the emergence and development of mathematical concepts, and the relationship between these developments and mathematics today. The course also offers a general introduction to topics such as infinity, proof techniques, the role of mathematics in nature and art, basic cryptographic methods, the axiomatic structure of mathematics, and mathematical reasoning.

Bu ders, çeşitli tarihsel dönemlerden sanat eserlerinin, nesnelerinin ve işlerinin incelenmesi yoluyla sanatın anlamı, dönüşümü ve işlevini öğrenciye aktarmayı ve sanat tarihine kısa bir giriş yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Resim, heykel, mimarlık, tasarım, baskı, fotoğraf, enstalasyon, performans, reklamlar ve hareketli görüntü gibi çok çeşitli medya ve mecra aracılığıyla görsel kültürün nesneleri ve pratiklerini tartışmaya açarak, ders öğrencilere sanatsal üretimin sosyal kültürel ve tarihsel koşullarına dair kapsamlı, disiplinlerarası ve yaratıcı bir bakış açısı kazandıracaktır.

Introduction to basic IT theory and terminology. Basic skills in a word processor programs, such as MS Word to create documents, format text, apply styles. Basic skills in a spreadsheet program, such as MS Excel, to create and format spreadsheets, including the use of mathematical formulas and to summarize given data in the form of graphics.

Bu ders edebiyat, sinema, sanat, mimarlık, mühendislik, matematik, felsefe, siyaset, ekonomi ve benzerleri gibi alanlardaki önemli eserlerin akademik çalışmasında temel derstir. Ders, öğrencilerin dönem boyunca bu derste sunulan başlıca eserlerle tanışmalarına ve farklı alanlardaki bu önemli eserlerle kendi görüş, bakış açısı ve zevklerini geliştirmelerine yardımcı olmayı amaçlamaktadır. Öğrencilerin dönem sonunda bu farklı alanlarda ve önemli çalışmaları hakkında bağımsız, analitik ve eleştirel düşünmeyi geliştirecek akademik araçlarla donatılması beklenmektedir.

Toplum, Bilim ve İnsan dersinin başlıca amacı, öğrencileri insan ve toplum arasındaki ilişki hakkında kapsamlı, disiplinlerarası, analitik ve eleştirel bir anlayış geliştirmek üzere özendirmek ve yönlendirmektir. Öğrencilere bireyler ve sosyal dünyaları hakkındaki belli başlı bazı kavramları, yaklaşımları ve konuları tanıtmayı hedefleyen dersi tamamlayan öğrencilerin ,sosyal bilimlerin diğer disiplinler ile benzerliklerini ve farklılıklarını kavramaları, insanoğlunun bir canlı türü olarak evrimi ile ilgili eleştirel bir anlayış geliştirmeleri, insanların sosyal çevreleri ile ilişkilerinin farklı yönleri hakkında bilgi edinmeleri, insanların çeşitli gruplar, kurumlar ve sosyal yapılar ile bu ilişkileri neden ve nasıl geliştirdiğini açıklayabilmeleri hedeflenmektedir.

Bu dersin amacı: Ahlaklı bir hayat nasıl tanımlanır? İyi ve erdemli birey kimdir? “İyi” ve “kötü”, “doğru” ve “yanlış” arasındaki çizgiyi kim belirler? İyi yurttaş kimdir? Bir yurttaş olarak, kadın/erkek olarak, toplum üyesi olarak hayatlarımızı nasıl yaşamamız gerekir? Modern birey kimdir? Teknoloji, ahlaki yargılarımızı nasıl etkiler? Etik, hukuk, ahlak ve kültürel alanları ilgilendiren bu tarz sorgulamaları günlük hayatımızda sıklıkla yapmaktayız. Bu ders, bu tür soruları tartışmak amacıyla birey ve yurttaş olmanın anlamlarına değinmekte; toplumsal hayatın düzenleyici bileşenlerini ahlak, hukuk, etik ve normlar ile ilişkilendirerek tartışmakta; birey ve iktidar arasındaki ilişkiyi devlet, toplumsal cinsiyet, aile, din ve gözetim gibi konular üzerinden ele almaktadır. Ayrıca, modernleşme kavramını merkeze alarak, değer yargılarının “evrensel” boyuttaki inşasını Doğu ve Batı kültürleri arasındaki iktidar ilişkileri bağlamında sorgulamaktadır.
