Why Işık International Economics and Finance

The importance of the financial sector has significantly increased in recent years, thanks to the advances in economic growth and prosperity. Increasing diversification in the financial sector generates the need for specialized professionals. Financial sector has currently expanded its scope way beyond the traditional portfolio services that are provided as a package by the brokerage firms operating in the financial services industry. Many financial corporations engage in specific operations focusing on international flow of funds and closely follow foreign economic activities. Moreover, the unification of Turkish stock-exchange markets under one umbrella, and the accelerated efforts to render Istanbul an international finance center should be regarded as a sign of increased importance of international economics and finance as an important subfield for the Turkish economics degree programs. Yet, there is an immediate shortage and demand for young and talented professionals in the industry.

"International Economics and Finance" program is designed to provide the students with necessary toolbox which will allow them to work within the international finance industry. The graduates of this program will acquire necessary knowledge in economics as well as administrative sciences, and will be ready to accept positions at financial corporations and institutions both nationally and internationally – such as the Turkish Central Bank, the Ministry of Public Finance, the Turkish Treasury, International Trade Aadministration, public or private investment/commercial banks, brokerage firms & financial services companies.
