The patent application for the invention titled “A System and Method for Determining the Durability of Structures,” led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ehsan Etminan from the Department of Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has been officially registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The patent study was conducted with contributions from Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Umut, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bora Akşar, Prof. Dr. Faruk Karadoğan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boray Tek from Istanbul Technical University, and Furkan Gündüz, a graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering.
The system developed as part of the study analyzes the resilience of structures against natural disasters, particularly earthquakes, based on their location and structural type. It identifies the need for structural reinforcement, displays fault lines in the surrounding area, and sends notifications to users in the event of a potential disaster, indicating the nearest assembly areas and providing directions to reach them.
We congratulate our esteemed academics and wish them continued success.
