A national patent grant decision has been issued for the invention entitled “A Filtering Method Used for Object and Edge Detection in Images,” in which Dr. R. Murat Demirer, faculty member of the Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department, is among the inventors. The same invention has also been filed under the international PCT application process with application numberPCT/TR2026/050009, for which a positive international search and written opinion process has been completed. The national patent application is registered under application number 2025/002384, and the official documentation states that a decision for granting the patent has been issued.
The invention proposes a mathematically grounded filtering method for the more effective detection of object boundaries and edge structures in the fields of image processing and computer vision. The method is based on representing images in the complex domain, employing log-harmonic functions together with Pre-Schwarzian and Schwarzian derivatives, and enhancing edge/boundary information through these mathematical transformations. The proposed approach has potential applications in medical imaging, satellite and aerial imaging, security and surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles, industrial quality control, and defense-related image analysis.
