Exit Exam, also known as the Preparatory Programme Exit Exam, is a proficiency exam that assesses the English level of the SFL students in four main areas.

The exam is administered twice per academic year and once after the summer school.

• The exam which is administered at the end of the fall semester is called the “Early Exit”,
• the one at the end of the spring semester is called “Exit”.
• After the summer school, students can sit another exam which is called the “Summer Exit”.

No. Academic Average is also important.

The academic average is calculated by taking 50% of the overall coursework completed during the two semesters and 50% of the Exit Exam grade. In other words, each semester carries a weight of 25%, while the Exit Exam carries a weight of 50%.

Prep Programme students’ academic averages are as important as the Exit Exam grades. The ability of the student to pass the preparatory program is based on 50% of the Exit Exam score and 50% of the academic average.

Işık University Prep Program requires regular attendance. For this reason, students must attend minimum 85% of their classes. The absenteeism limit is 15% of the total course hours. (For example, if the total number of hours in one semester is 300, the student must attend at least 255 hours of class.)

No. Absenteeism is calculated across the whole year. Since the Track 3 program is a one semester program, ONLY T3 students’ absences are calculated on a one-semester basis.

No. A student’s academic achievement is calculated on the basis of one academic year, as our programs are designed to consist of two semesters/terms: Fall and Spring. Since the Track 3 program is a one-semester program, ONLY the academic averages of T3 students are calculated on a semester basis.

If the student submits a document to take make-up exams within the semester due to serious excuses such as health problems, death of relatives, accidents, school missions, this application is evaluated by the school administration.

For very serious health problems (such as surgeries, panel reports) and compulsory situations affecting the course of life (such as death of relatives, accidents, disasters, school assignments), the school administration will evaluate the correction of the student's absences, provided that the excuses are documented.

The student must submit the excuse document to the school administration within one week at the latest after the exam. Submitting an excuse document does not mean that the excuse will be accepted.

The teacher of the relevant course follows the process regarding exams and gives relevant feedback to the student. The class teacher follows the process regarding absenteeism and informs the student.

No. In order to register for the Summer School, it is necessary to fulfill the following prerequisites. Students who have failed the Exit Exams at the end of the Spring semester, but have fulfilled the attendance requirement of 85% or have an academic average of at least 60, can apply to SFL and participate in the Preparatory Summer School program.

Summer school is not compulsory. Students are asked to pay tuition. However, students with scholarships are exempted the amount of their scholarships.

Students may also be exempted from the preparatory program by obtaining the required score from internationally recognized English proficiency exams. Exam scores from other universities are not accepted as proof of English proficiency. The examinations and scores accepted by our university are as follows:

• PTE Academic: 65
• e-YDS/YDS: 70
• e-YÖKDİL/YÖKDİL: 70
• e-TEP: 80
