The course programs of the FMV Işık University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (Işık-TÖMER) have been prepared based on the six language levels determined by the European Language Portfolio (ELP). The courses are conducted in six-week periods. We have a Turkish preparatory class and a Course class where we can also accept external participants.

It is mandatory to take the Placement Exam before proceeding to the preparatory class.

Registration freeze can only be done if a valid excuse is presented. Subsequent requests will not be accepted, and a refund will not be made for the period that will not be attended.

At Işık-TÖMER, courses are held 4 days a week during the academic year, in accordance with the academic calendar, excluding national and religious holidays. Classes canceled due to reasons originating from the Center are compensated by our instructors. Students/participants are required to attend at least 70% of the classes.

Işık TÖMER students are subject to three types of evaluation:

  1. Midterm exams and assignments.
  2. Course-End Exams: The student is evaluated based on four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). The student can receive a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 points for each skill. The minimum score limit for advancing to the next level is set at 60. A student who scores less than 15 points in any one or more of the skills cannot advance to the next level, even if their total score is 60.
  3. Turkish Proficiency Exam: Students who complete the B2 level take the Turkish Proficiency Exam. They are subject to a four-skills-based evaluation. The required score to obtain the Turkish Proficiency Certificate is set at 76.
