Organized by the Department of Cinema and Television, the From Coast to Screen Short Film Festival brought together figures from the world of cinema, young filmmakers, and cinema enthusiasts over the course of three days.
The festival opened with speeches by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seher Şeylan, Head of the Department of Cinema and Television; Prof. Dr. Adnan Uzun, Dean of the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture; Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Serhat Koloğlugil; Member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Culture, Art, and Sports M. Özalp Birol; and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mehmet Serdar Sarıgül.
As part of the festival, Dr. Sühendan Kumru, M. Özalp Birol, and Menderes Samancılar met with participants as guests of honor. The screenings and talks held throughout the event attracted great interest from students passionate about cinema, as well as industry professionals.
Short film screenings were held throughout the three-day festival. Following the evaluations, Körebe (Blind Man’s Buff) received the Documentary Jury Special Award, while Kırılan Zaman (Broken Time) won the Best Documentary Award. In the fiction category, the Jury Special Award was presented to Liminal, while Kordon (The Cord) received the Best Fiction Film Award.
In the Youth Perspective category, Süpürge (The Broom) was deemed worthy of the Jury Special Award, while Sessiz Çoğunluk (The Silent Majority) was selected as Best Film. In the experimental category, the Jury Special Award was presented to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, while Non-Spontaneous Combustion received the Best Film Award. The festival’s Audience Special Award was awarded to Sakın Söyleme (Don’t You Dare Tell).
While providing visibility for the work of young filmmakers, the From Coast to Screen Short Film Festival also contributed to supporting creative works in the field of cinema.
