At Işık University Department of Psychology, education and research activities in both basic and applied fields of psychology are conducted simultaneously in Turkish and English. The inclusion of a higher number of methodology courses in the Undergraduate Program, which began in 2009, the establishment of the Experimental and Psychophysiology Laboratory in 2010, the launch of the Clinical Psychology Master's Program in the 2014–2015 academic year, and the initiation of the Doctoral Program in the same field in 2017 can be considered indicators of this vision. The aim of the Undergraduate Psychology Program is to graduate students who can critically evaluate phenomena in subfields such as experimental-cognitive, developmental, social, clinical, and organizational psychology; who can investigate these phenomena using scientific methods; and who develop a psychologist identity that embraces ethical values, a sense of professional responsibility, and respect for personal and sociocultural differences.
At Işık University Department of Psychology, the English and Turkish programs are carried out concurrently. Students are required to complete 240 ECTS credits by taking compulsory, departmental elective, and general elective courses. In their fourth year, students have the opportunity to conduct their own research projects under the supervision of a faculty member. In addition, internships that students voluntarily undertake to gain experience in various subfields of psychology are supported by our department.
