Dormitory Facilities and Services

Dormitories located in FMV Işık University Şile Campus are becoming more and more popular each year. Işık University dormitories, which also have units with Sea and Forest views, not only allow students to build their individual worlds, but also encourage community solidarity. Our dormitories have a total bed capacity of 1455, for 1, 3, and 4 people, in 16 buildings. There are 4 rooms that our students with special needs can use.

Dormitory personnel are responsible for monitoring the on-site and on-time resolution of student demands and identified problems on a 24/7 basis and providing general inspection of the dormitories. The common areas of our dormitories and the corridors where the rooms are located are recorded with a security camera system, and these records are examined by the authorized dormitory officer in a controlled manner only if needed to shed light on an incident. Our students staying in the dormitories are obliged to abide by the Dormitory Life Rules, and in case of violations, a report is drawn up by the dormitory staff, and necessary matters are taken to the agenda of the Dormitory Disciplinary Committee and resolved.

• ROOMS

  Each student staying in our dormitories is provided with basic materials such as a bed, sheets, duvet covers, pillows, and pillowcases as standard. In all our rooms, each student is given a desk, bookcase, wardrobe, bed or bunk bed, and study chair, and each room has a refrigerator. For security reasons, the use of electrical devices such as heaters, radiators, stoves, ovens, air conditioners, halogen lighting, that can overload is not allowed in our dormitories.

• STUDY ROOMS

  There are study rooms available 24/7 throughout our dormitories. The DMF building has a 24-hour study room. Also, the library, where our students can do the necessary research studies, is available 24 hours a day.

• LAUNDRY ROOMS

  All dormitories have laundry rooms. Laundry rooms have washing machines for our students to wash their clothes, dryers, irons, and ironing boards. Our students benefit from this service free of charge.

• KITCHEN

  All kitchens in our dormitories have a kitchen counter with sink, storage cabinets, electric stove, microwave oven, dishwasher, toaster, sandwich maker, and kettle. Our students have the opportunity to prepare their food in these areas whenever they want. There are also dining tables and chairs where our students can eat.

• HEATING-VENTILATION

  All interior spaces of our dormitories are heated with a central heating system. The operating hours of the heaters are predetermined as 06.00-10.00, 13.00-15.00, and 17.00-24.00 and are revised according to weather conditions. The heat is kept under control by measuring the temperature of the common areas of the dormitory (22 °C) every day. Also, considering that our students would work until late during exam periods, the heaters are kept on and additional precautions are taken according to the outdoor temperature.

• CLEANING

  The cleaning of dorm rooms and common areas is carried out by a private cleaning company in accordance with health and hygiene rules. The rooms are cleaned daily, garbage is thrown away, and once a month a detailed room cleaning is done. Bedsheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers offered to our students are washed and changed every ten days. Our students benefit from this service free of charge.

• HOT WATER

  Our dormitories have hot water 24/7. Our students benefit from this service free of charge.

• INTERNET

  Our campus has 2 separate internet connections, a 700 Mbit/s Wired connection and a 400 Mbit/s Wireless connection. Internet access is provided with a user name and password to ensure secure, controlled, and fair distribution. Our students benefit from these 2 services free of charge.

• DRINKING WATER

  Free drinking water is provided to our students free of charge with the water dispensers located in the common areas (including corridors) of all our dormitories.

• STORAGE ROOM

  There are storage rooms in our dormitories for our students to keep their extra belongings for certain periods.

• SECURITY

  24/7 security service is provided throughout the campus by the private security company, and the buildings are also inspected by the dormitory staff.

• VENDING MACHINES

  Our dormitories have vending machines (with charge) that offer canned beverages and packaged food, such as biscuits, chocolate, etc., 24/7.

• MAINTENANCE-REPAIR

  All necessary maintenance-repair work for issues with electricity, electronics, plumbing, construction, carpentry in dormitory rooms and common areas are done free of charge by special technical service teams. However, damages caused by abuse and misuse are deducted from the students' deposits.

• FIRE SAFETY

  There are smoke detectors in all common areas and student rooms of our dormitories, which are equipped with Electronic Detection and Alarm Systems against fire hazards. Our buildings also have fire extinguishers and fire cabinets, as well as effective fire escape directions. Smoke detectors are important in terms of fire detection and it is strictly forbidden to remove or disassemble them.

• PARKING AREAS

  Our campus has parking areas where our students can park their cars. There are also private bike parks.

• EMERGENCIES

  Teams are working 24/7 on our campus for emergencies such as health, security, and fire. On-campus phone numbers that may be required by our students are available behind all dormitory doors.
